English rock band that initially earned recognition for their psychedelic rock music, and as it evolved, was transformed into progressive rock. They are known for their philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, innovative Cover your art, and elaborate live shows. It is one of the most important bands of the rock scene with more than 200 million albums worldwide of which 74.5 million in the U.S. alone. His first training was made by Bob Klose on guitar, Nick Mason on drums, Rick Wright on keyboard and vocals, Roger Waters on bass and vocals and Syd Barrett as lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, the latter was the first leader of the band. had moderate success in the mainstream scene and was one of the most popular bands in the London underground music scene in the late 1960's as a psychedelic band led by Syd Barrett, who later, due to her erratic behavior, their colleagues were forced to replace it with the guitarist and singer David Gilmour. After Barrett's departure, singer and bass player Roger Waters gradually became the driving force and dominant in the first half of the 1970s, until his eventual departure from the band in 1985. The group recorded several albums during this time, being large commercial events worldwide success like "The Dark Side of the Moon" (1973), "Wish You Were Here" (1975), "Animals" (1977), and "The Wall "(1979). In 1985, Waters declared Pink Floyd extinction, but the remaining members, led by Gilmour, sued Waters for rights to the name of the band, they continued recording and touring under the name of Pink Floyd and enjoyed success commercial "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" (1987) and "The Division Bell" (1994), eventually reached a settlement with Waters over the use of the name.
Waters did a solo career and is not reunited with Pink Floyd until 24 years later, on July 2, 2005 at the Live 8 concert in London.
Pink Floyd is one of the most influential rock bands, has influenced so many rock artists of the 1970s as David Bowie, Genesis and Yes.
